Marking a Milestone: Chocolate Films Celebrates Royal Warrant Appointment

On Thursday 24th July, the Chocolate Films team welcomed partners, clients, collaborators and friends to our Nine Elms studio for an evening of celebration, reflection and gratitude. The occasion? Chocolate Films has been awarded a Royal Warrant of Appointment by His Majesty King Charles III.

The party was our way of bringing everyone together: clients old and new, current team members, former colleagues, friends, family, local partners and fellow creatives, to mark this exceptional moment in the company’s history.

Celebrating Together in Nine Elms

Our Nine Elms studio was filled with friends, clients, collaborators, and team members, all coming together to celebrate a major milestone for Chocolate Films. With food and drinks from local social enterprises, music, and lively conversation, the evening was a true reflection of our community spirit.

More than just a celebration of the Royal Warrant, it was a moment to acknowledge how far we’ve come. From two people to a thriving team of 22 across London and Glasgow and a network of filmmakers worldwide, the event captured the heart of Chocolate Films: creativity, inclusivity, and purpose.

The Royal Warrant: What It Means

Being granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment is one of the highest honours a UK business can receive. It recognises companies that have supplied goods or services to the Royal Household for at least five years while meeting high standards of quality, reliability and sustainability.

Chocolate Films is proud to be the only full-service video production company of its kind to currently hold a Royal Warrant. The appointment acknowledges our long-standing work with the Royal Household and Royal Collection Trust, dating back to our first commission in 2013. Over the years, we have produced a diverse range of films for the Royal Family, from heritage documentaries to digital content for public audiences.

But the Royal Warrant also celebrates more than just our creative output. It recognises our approach to ethics, sustainability, inclusion and community impact. For us, this is where the honour feels especially significant.

A Social Enterprise at Its Heart

From day one, Chocolate Films has been a social enterprise. That means we reinvest our profits into delivering filmmaking workshops to thousands of young people every year, particularly those from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2025, we are relaunching our flagship project, 1000 Londoners, giving a platform to a wide range of voices and perspectives across the capital.

Our commitment to community impact, fair pay, environmental sustainability and inclusive practices has always been central to who we are. To have that recognised as part of the Royal Warrant process feels like a powerful validation of what it means to build a purpose-driven creative business.

This isn’t just a badge of honour for Chocolate Films. It is a moment of recognition for every social enterprise working to prove that business can be a force for good.

A Night of Local Flavour and Celebration

True to our values, the evening was catered by 9 Kitchens, a fantastic local social enterprise based just around the corner. For dessert, we served gelato from our good friends  at Oddono’s, one of the first businesses to welcome us to Battersea when we moved into the area.

There was a real sense of shared achievement and appreciation for the many people who have supported Chocolate Films on our journey.

Looking to the Future

Joining the Royal Warrant Holders Association places us among a remarkable group of businesses, from household names like Fortnum & Mason and Barbour and Twinings. It is a tradition that stretches back centuries, and we are honoured to now be part of it.

While the past is worth celebrating, our focus is firmly on the future. We will continue producing outstanding films for the heritage, education, charity and cultural sectors while remaining rooted in our mission to make film accessible to all.

This honour and milestone is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our mission. It’s about purpose, people and what can be achieved when creativity and social impact come together.
